Homecoming Week

Homecoming at BYU is the best! It was pretty busy, but there were so many fun things to do. I think I've finally gotten use to the college schedule to do homework, go to class, go to work, and party. Now I just need to work on eating regularly. My roommates are so wonderful. Every Sunday we have a hall meeting and it looks like we're one of the only apartments that hasn't had roommate problems. <3
Sunday Morning. I had to make something delicious for Conference. <3 I would have made waffles, but we were invited to a waffle party later that night. Conference made me a little homesick. I miss Mom making me food!!!! All the speakers were great.
Tuesday: Kickin off the Homecoming Celebrations at a Devotional..

Skits from Studio C. They're great.
Coach: What does it say on the back of your jersey?!
Jason: Tradition!
Coach: Oh... this would have been easier if you were Honor.
Matt: Can I have a jersey that says Spirit?

Mallory and Whitney introducing our football coach.

Jeremy reading off the homecoming schedule.

Starting to hike Y Mountain later that night.

Almost as pretty as sunsets back home.

Top of the Y with Cosmo. He's a pretty cool cat.

Sitting on top of the Y and waiting for dark. It is the biggest college logo in the U.S.. It's even bigger than the Hollywood letters. It was suppose to say BYU, but they got tired. ;)

Provo after dark.

It's a Homecoming Tradition to light the Y and I got to help. :)

View from outside our apartment. It's really cool in real life.

Wednesday: Last run through of Seussical! For my theatre class we had to spend ten hours of serving the theatre community. I was able to work crew for the Mask Club "Seussical the Musical." It kicked off the season for Mask Clubs. Every Thursday one goes up in the Nelke Theatre. It plays three times in one day and then that's it.

The cast was amazing. They were so sweet and talented.

It was difficult to cut the show into 40 minutes for the appropriate Mask Club length, but they pulled it off.

Alone in the Universe <3 I definitely play this song whenever I'm sad. It's great.

Thursday Morning: Refusing to run late. It worked. Poor Marie.

I head Studio C was coming to the bookstore Friday, so Jenni and I made sure we were there. We managed to be 2nd in line for standby Divine Comedy tickets so we got into the show! While waiting in line, Whitney came to talk to us about how the line was going to work since the Y Events people were no where to be seen. I had to secretly snap chat her to my sister and a few other friends.

A friend held our place in line for Divine Comedy while we ran over to the Bookstore to see the Studio C cast. They're real people. Lol We didn't get to talk to them since the line was uber long and we weren't buying a shirt or a dvd right then.

Matt and Mallory showed up a little later. People went a little crazy when they walked in.

Yeah that's the line behind us. Whadup! haha we sat second row behind the VIPs.

Divine Comedy is hilarious. If you get the chance, go!

We went to the 7pm show. There was a 9pm show right after it. You won't believe who we talked to going out while they were going in.....

Mallory was super cool. She must have been tired of smiling, but she didn't let on. They are all Mormon Celebrities. Can I please be her????

Talking to Whitney again and this one she knew we were taking a picture. ;)

Matt Meese. They all look so much older in person. So weird that they were willing to stand around and talk to us. We were really chill about it. A couple people were freaking out. Jason and Jeremy walked into the show before we could catch them. Natalie and James didn't stick around.

We decided the night couldn't end there! Here are our balloons! I'm not going to say where we got them....

Drinks at the Wall! The Italian soda was good. Yeah the Wall is a Mormon bar in the basement of the Wilk. All about that college life. lolz

Drawing on the walls of the Wall.

Mail from Sister Andersen!!!! I was so excited to hear from here. I wrote back immediately, but I haven't been able to send it yet. She's doing well in Ohio.

Saturday: Why am I up so early in a freezing parking lot? Homecoming Parade! #volunteering

It's time. Candy Corn season has arrived.

Samantha did my paint for the game. Go cougs!!!

Emily, Melissa, Me, and Sam.

I got 4 free t-shirts on Saturday. One from volunteering at the parade. One in front of the Stadium at the Game. One inside the gates. One from concessions.

We were trying to win and Instagram contest for Cougar Spirit. Haven't heard anything yet so I guess we lost. Bummer. We're too photogenic to loose. ;)

Hey! That's our roommate! She has a sick burn on her arm right now from someone throwing some tumbling stunt and kicking her.

Wear your free blue shirt at half time and get free food?!?! We're down. The first one is me and then I just had to take a ton of Melissa.

After game party? Of course! We push each other around the basement in the magic laundry basket.

This hallway at night = terrifying
This hallway while riding through in a magic basket = terrifyingly awesome

Just a friendly reminder from the bathroom of the Conference Center. I'm really taking time out of Sunday School for a smoke break. e.e

Tonight for Ward Prayer our FHE was introduced. Our Ma read off crazy facts about us and the ward had to guess who went with each interesting statement. Mine was, "My bedroom door has been taken off its hinges and stolen." The reaction from the crowd was pretty funny. I'm thankful for Bryce, Joey, Elisabeth, Emily, Laura, and everyone else that helped create all of my wonderful High School memories. I have some pretty sick stories to tell.

The smell of cupcakes and the sound of good music makes just about everything better. Now it's time to attempt some homework and go to sleep.

We Went to Conference!

This is the third time I have tried to publish this blog post. If it doesn't work this time, September 22- October 5th is going to disappear forever. As usual this is just a few highlights of all the fun and crazy things that happen. It's pretty much when I snap a picture and then later deem the picture worthy. I'm going to go backwards since that's how the pics uploaded.

October 5, What's Up Doc? with Melissa and Joelle! I think they liked it ok. Still one of my favorite movies <3 Watching it did make me a tad homesick. We were staying up waiting for Sam to get home from a movie (that was kind of a date :) ). Laying in this hall was isn't very comfortable, but it was fun.

I don't know what this building is, but I think it's beautiful.

Me, Samantha Smith, and Natalie Hopkins.

Got to have a generic temple picture. I love castles and I love temples <3

One of my favorite spots on Temple Square. The Joseph Smith Memorial Building looks like the Emerald City. I would be more than content having my living room look like this. ;)

This picture is probably my favorite. It was sort of a picture attack. hehehe

Growing up so close to the Mesa Temple I didn't realize what a wonderful temple it is and how blessed I am. Most temples don't have a Visitors Center. Sam was ecstatic. She hadn't been to Salt Lake in years. Natalie is from Florida so she isn't use to it either, but she visited temple square during summer session of school. I knew my way around best.

We went to Conference! (The pictures being out of order makes this a little anticlimactic) The first presidency walking in was one of my favorite parts. Their love, humor, and wisdom just radiates off of them.

Outside the Conference Center. Natalie is the best. We missed the train (kind of my fault) so she drove us to Salt Lake even though the thought of driving to a big city kind of freaked her out. The trip went smoothly and we found great parking.

None of us had ever been to Conference. Florida, Michigan, and Arizona aren't super close. There was much freaking out.

And here is my ticket! Brother Anstead is the best. He had 9 extra tickets so it was first come first serve for people in the ward. We didn't know we were going until the night before at 10:30. I love BYU.

October 3? Walking back from tap behind the RB while talking to my dad I see DEER. If I wasn't in the middle of a conversation I might have had a panic attack. They come chill on campus a lot actually. Being alone with three big animals was a shock though.

Visiting Jenni at work! She works at Subway in the Wilk with Jamie Mortenson. They weren't super compliant with my pictures since it was during rush hour lunch. Jenni saved the day a few minutes before this by running a sandwich to a guy who left it on the counter.

October 1? Our team at work held the lead in Penny Wars for the first three days so they brought us treats each day! This one was Creamies? I think they're a Utah thing. In the end we got pushed back to second so we win a pizza party instead of half a paid day off of work. My job is pretty great. Especially because of all the food we get. ;)
Sam and Melissa! They got a hold of my phone and changed my background to this gem. It's stayin.

Melissa <3 I'm addicted to snap chat. Right about now we were snapping each other instead of doing homework or studying... priorities. There is a reason people do homework at the library instead of at home, trust me. lol

Elevator in the HFAC. For some reason it kind of freaked me out the other day. I guess I felt like I was about to drop into the Twilight Zone.

September 29th kicked off the introductions of the FHE groups at Ward Prayer. Group one was super classy with their announcer, music, and party lights. We're next and I don't think we're going to be able to compete. Just one of the fun ward things that goes on.

I don't even know... Sometimes it's very late at night and you have to make fun of how small your hallway is.

I'm not sure what I said to Megan, but it was hilarious. hehehe #tease

BYU's first choir concert of the season for the audition choirs. They sounded great and we hummed the songs for days. This Men's Choir about to kick it off. I love knowing such talented singers.

Walking over to the choir concert with Jenni and Joelle on September 26th. I love how often it rains here.

Meet our duck. We hide him around the kitchen. I got him on the NSO Scavenger Hunt (see previous post). My roommates have been pretty creative with hiding him, but the best so far was Joelle's boyfriend, Dillon, freezing him in our candy jar. Thankfully both the jar and the duck lived.

Guess who's moving into the brand new Heritage Hall building this winter?!?!?! That's right! We love our apartment, but having a room that doesn't heat up to 90 degrees on end will be one of the perks.

Trenchcoat Thursday? Jenni is a good sport to dress up with me. It took Melissa and I awhile to teach Jenni this pose. She likes to be difficult.

haha awkward picture.

We spent way too much time taking these pictures if you can't tell.

Imaging problems... when your Butterfinger is crushed from the pinata.

Cinnamon Roll Cake! Tyler Persson is wonderful for bringing us something so delicious. Someday I'll have to get his recipe. This thing was gone so fast. This was probably on September 25th.

This kid..... Megan was so great to set up Skype so I could watch Joey open his call to Japan on September 22nd. He is going to have such an awesome adventure.

*crosses fingers that this actually works this time*
Today I visited Pendulum Court while typing up my blog. It's kind of like the Science Center. I reccommend it to anyone visiting campus. I also recommend this whether I am loving living in a real Fall. More posts to come soon!

Love, Emily
