London Eye

June 3rd
After class I decided that I was going to ride the London Eye. I had to say I had done it. No one else was too interested so I set off after lunch.

I line I met a really nice couple from Florida. They were in the city for three days before they went on a cruise around Europe. The line moved pretty quickly. We only stood there for fifteen minute.

You are put in a pod with about fifteen other people. One rotation takes a half hour. The ferris wheel only stops if someone in a wheelchair is getting in or out.

The view was nice and the ride was not scary. I prefer St. Paul's though. London Eye is definitely something you can pass up. It might have been more interesting to do at night. A couple girls in the program did that at the beginning and they really liked it.

There was an Asian tourist lady who was cracking me up. She kept scuttling around the pod taking pictures and then asking me to take them of here. There were a few little kids in family groups that cried, but it was okay. If you don't want to do St. Paul's, I guess I would do London Eye with friends.

Walking back across the bridge was too perfect. No rain. Just beautiful British skies.

I decided to adventure after that. This is Leadenhall Market. It is one of the filming site of Harry Potter. It mostly just has nice shopping. I think the Leaky Cauldron is supposed to be here.

Ran into the shard. I assume businesses and banks are in this super big building. It is just another trademark of the London sky.

I think I have already taken this picture before, but I love how business suddenly turns to history in this city. I am pretty sure this is the bank that Mr. Banks works at in Mary Poppins. I was tricked yet again into walking from the tube stops Bank to Monument underground. This was the third time I have done it. When you are underground the signs make it look like they are very close together.... They are not.

On our way to Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Once travel week ended everyone from Rome and Paris went on and on about how they had gelato several times everyday. Since I have not had it once on this trip Tracy and Justyne agreed with me that it was necessary.

The gelato place was just down the street from the theatre. It was pretty good. I did not think it looked like a lot of ice cream till I started eating. Gelato is deceiving.

Tracy, Justyne, and I.
This show was the one musical we saw together as a class.

Background: I HATE Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I do not like the books, either of the movies, or the stage version. I really do try to like it. I just can't do it. The oompa loompas are freaky, Wonka is insane, the grandparents are so obnoxious, and they kill the children! Even though this show had amazing spectacle, I just couldn't get into it. If you like the story, you would really like the play. Oh it was so creepy.
