June 13th
Back to class and making breakfast for ourselves. I really wish I was able to see Henry IV Part Two back in Stratford. Going home will be hard for many reasons. One obviously being that I won't be seeing as much phenomenal theatre. When were were driving back from Blenheim yesterday everyone started announcing on the coach what they would be doing a week from today, e.i. "In one week I'm going to be on a plane!" "In one week I'll be in California!" etc....
Chelsea loves raspberry tarts. She has had several on the trip and she said the best one has been at the bakery on Gloucester Road. I couldn't just take her word for it. I stopped by for a tart on my way to meet up with Sister Silcock. Funny story, i just grabbed a coin from my purse and it happened to be a two euro instead of a two pounds. Oops! Not sure where that came from. I apologized and quickly found the change in pounds. Embarrassing.
I met up with Sister Silcock and we took a bus around the West End. We jumped off around Piccadilly Circus to check out the shopping scene. This is a famous arcade. Arcades are classy, covered avenues that have super exclusive shops. There were dresses, pens, purses, suits, shoes, and a whole array of specific stores that cost more than my entire trip, I'm sure.
The crest above this clock means the queen shops here. I feel like that is the highest praise you can get. The name of the store escapes me, but we wandered around the confectionery for awhile looking at all the different candies. It was similar to Harrod's and looked just as scrumptious.
Sister Silcock wanted to check out the afternoon tea at The Ritz. She also said I had to walk through at least once. We made it through the first lobby and then were stopped by a security guard. Apparently there is a strict dress code enforced after the first lobby. We did not make it to the restaurant since my tennis shoes and Sister Silcock's shorts were not up to par.
I love the titles of these books. They were in the gift shop next to Buckingham Palace. After Angela and I walked around the store we parted at Victoria Station since we both were going out to dinner. It was fun to spend the day with my old Young Women leader. She knows so much about London.
Choe, Carolyn, and I went to dinner at a really classy place not too far from home. It's our last weekend in London so why not? I had this starter with different cheeses and tomatoes since I was not too hungry. This dessert we all shared was delightful too. It was like an apple pie stuck in a chocolate crepe. Amanda and Ellen joined us an hour or so in. We had a great time.
