NSO Ready Set Go!

It was hard to imagine this moment while writing application essays, waiting for months on end, jumping up and down during a Choir Cafe Night with my acceptation email, going through the fun last few months of Senior Year, and working two summer jobs.... but here I am. I'm sitting in a dorm room with a lap top and waiting to go to break the fast with my new roommates and singles ward. I have a student I.D. saying I'm going to the school of my dreams. I did it.

I hope the majority of this blog turns into pictures and their captions because a picture is truly worth a thousand words. NSO is New Student Orientation. It ran Wednesday through Saturday. The weekend was full of tours, races, seminars, and parties.

Mom, Dad, and the kids helped me move in on Wednesday. Monday through Wednesday were all slightly crazy, yet productive days. We shopped a lot and tried to think of all the little things I would need to buy for my apartment.

This is still when stuff was pretty cluttered, but it gives you a good idea of what my half of the room looks like. :) Lovin the bedding I was given for graduation.

Marie and I on our way to find our Y groups for New Student Orientation Thursday. We talked a lot about shows on our journey to Helaman Field. It was pretty hot Thursday and Friday, but none of these people understand what it's like to live in the Valley of the Sun. My Y group was mostly people in my American Heritage Lecture, so hopefully I'll recognize someone to sit with on day one!

It's not everyday Historical Figures come to life to talk to you about the importance of education. I am lovin their costumes. Touring around with the Y group was pretty fun. The young Lorenzo Snow and Martha Cox started off our journey through the JFSB. I had just caught up with the group after working on some paperwork for my new job as a Data Entry Specialist in Imaging. Yay Employment!

Roommates at the Y picture. Once we assembled the giant Y in the stands we did the wave several different times and directions. The pep rally following the picture was lots of fun. The MC was hilarious and I am very impressed with Cosmo's tumbling and tricks. Some of the teams were announced and a few girls from the stand were even selected to go slow dance on the field with some basketball played. Only in Provo. Props to the guy behind us for superb photo-bombing.

Party under the bleachers after the pep rally got pretty crazy. It was kind of like EFY with no rules. Boys were climbing the poles and I counted around eight people crowd surfing. Huge mosh pits.
Friday was Marie's birthday so Melissa and I decorated the windows and mirrors of our apartment with the help from our awesome R.A., Hayley.
In the library we signed this giant banner for our incoming class.
Friday was the Night of Traditions. First I went on the Scavenger Hunt around campus. This station was my favorite part. You had to follow a trail of ducks to find the stream and then throw one in and follow it to your next clue.
Funny Story: I actually ended up winning the Scavenger Hunt on accident. I was trying to fin the tunnel for Tunnel Singing and I wound up at the front of the Marriott Center, which happened to be the end. They all started screaming and ringing the victory bell for me and handing me a frisbee... I whispered to one of the girls that I still needed to find the sixth clue and she pointed me in the right direction. By the time I got back a few more people had made it to the end, but I still got to ring the Victory Bell. :D

This is a humongous wedding dress hanging in the art museum that is made out of bubble wrap. It is epic.

So much going on at college. I relieved lots of flyers and coupons at the Information Fair on Friday and the Scavenger Hunt.

At the Soccer Game with Sarah Naomi. We won three to zero against Nebraska. Go lady Cougs!!!

Afterwards we headed to the Ballroom for two entertaining rounds of the dating game. To top it off Humor U put on a show at the end of the night. These guys are sooooo funny! Trust me.

I agree we do have some personality. Our back stairs remind me of West Side Story or Newsies. Who is going to argue with that?

Thursday night I met two exchange students form Germany and Bulgaria. I should have asked for a picture cause they were 6'10'' and 6'9''. I have never felt short until that moment. They're going to play on the Men's Volleyball team, so other colleges beware.
Well that's the end of my BYU pictures and I think they hit most of the major points. Excited for my job and classes to start! I miss everyone dearly, but I love it up here.
