A Trip Down Camden Town

May 10th
This morning was a little rough since I slept for six hours, but we still made it to the Museum of London first. Ha! This is the first time we left Zone 1 and ventured to Zone 2 on the underground.
Jace, Jessa, Camilla, Sarah, and Ben all ready to walk through the history of London. I'm not really interested in ancient stuff. Don't get me wrong, spears and baskets are cool, but my favorite room was the Victorian London walk though. You feel you are in 19th century London with all the recreated stores. I also liked the Covent Garden costumes from 100 years before that. The video about the Great Fire was crazy. Same with the Black Plague. I am so glad I didn't live in a time where sickness and fire could spread so fast and kill so many. Other bad things happen though. In the modern day gallery there was the mayor's carriage with taxidermy horses, but a book sat in the back as a memorial to the 2005 bombings. I don't remember those. I've been riding the tube constantly though and can only imagine how scary that would be.

The one picture I sneaked in the museum; Jace and Jessa being firefighters. He is wearing a modern helmet and she has original gear. Jessa loved touching all the artifacts in the museum, even if she wasn't supposed to.

This church plays a part in the Reformation. A spiritual awakening took place in the courtyard where that tree was. This stride toward religious freedom was another key role in Joseph Smith being able to restore the Gospel later on. London is an amazing city. Tidbits from George.

After the Museum of London, Sara, Jessa, Camilla, Dallin, Jace, Jennifer, and I went to Camden Market. George and Brett talked about this being the sketchiest of three markets, but I felt fine there. It's a big flee market with hipsters, tourists, and foodies. We all split up to wander the shops and meet back an hour later.
Have you seen What A Girl Wants? That is my life.

The clock necklace I bought at Camden after I talked to awhile with the shop owner. He was born in London. However, his parents were from Afghanistan. He was a really cool guy. Camden has the most diverse pool of people of the places I've interacted with people so far. The food was so international. YUM!

For Lunch: A waffle drizzled with chocolate, nutella, whipped cream, and strawberries. As the people at the booth were making it I explained what my Camelback was to them.
Camden was overwhelming. I wanted everything. I also decided I never want to leave London. I love the U.S.!!! This is so fun though. One week is almost gone and I just can't get enough. It was too much with the lack of sleep, delicious food, limited time, and limited money.

Don't think I would be brace enough to try this. You sit on those benches, stick your legs into the water, and then the fish EAT YOUR FEET! Really they clean your feet and do good things for them, but it looks too scary!

Look at these funny stools in Camden! It was just the back half of a ton of mini motorbikes.

Try all the food! It's cultural Costco.

These cookies are huge. They were good when we sampled them too.

Camden, you cannot be conquered in a few hours. We will be back!

Dallin, Camilla, Sarah, and Jace.
All of us ate lunch from a different country. This is looking over one of the food markets. My back is to the river above. The wind picked up once the rain ended, so perfect weather. Rain I can handle. Wind I can handle. Together? No!

Tempted to try the octopus... eek!

We watched them make the churros! After they churn them out, deep fry them, and role each churros in sugar, you can choose between infusing it with chocolate caramel or chocolate.

Leaving Camden

Afterwards, everyone went to find the Tardis. Camilla and I went grocery shopping instead. I like Waitrose much more the Sainsbury. It seemed less confusing because it is set up more like a grocery store back home. It is also right outside Glouster Station and closer to home.

Walking back with groceries in the rain. Livin that London Life.
*You bag your own groceries. I keep forgetting.

Chelsea, Justyne, Me, Tracy, and Sarah
At Richard The Third. This show was saved by the hot actors. Okay it was not that bad. We saw the show at the Cockpit theatre down the sketchiest street I've been down so far. The five of us made it back out to Zone 2 by ourselves with great time. Winning. Tube transfers are getting easier each day. The show was long and I couldn't find any clear vision the director was aiming for. The story was told though. Let the paper writing begin.
I'll be honest, I didn't doze during this show since I napped for 45 minutes today in between shopping and dinner. I skyped good old Gilbert too. I'm sure it is much drier and hotter there. Everything is starting to feel perpetually damp. I think I can get use to it, but it's weird.
