Photo Shoot

June 17th
Photo shoot with Big Ben and a telephone booth after our final for George's class went great! No shame in being a tourist.

I had to get one just right with my backpack in it to submit to the Kennedy Center's "Where's Your Back Pack Been?" Photo Contest. Fingers crossed that Westminster Wharf is "exotic" enough to win. I'm pretty cute, right?

London, I love you.
I also love the kid's face in the far right. I almost cried I was laughing so hard. I didn't see it until writing this post.

After our photo shoot, Justyne and I went the Somerset House. Uhmmm Gorgeous! Why did I not know about this before? We also went to Borough Market. Justyne bought some turkish delight and other treats. How can you resist? I'll miss the markets so much.

Anyways, Somerset House is Great. We went all the way to the river, played in the fountain, and checked out some cool art exhibits.

We weren't sure whether or not it was okay to touch the different art pieces, but went for it anyways. Later a museum worker gave us the go ahead. She must have been laughing as we debated over it and then took pictures super fast before jumping away.

We wandered around and found the Jubilee Market next to Covent Garden. More or less the same stuff as all the other markets. Like I said, I will miss them.

Charles Dickens' House

Next we found the John Soan Museum. It is the smallest national museum since Soane donated his house to become a museum after he died. He was a brilliant architect and an impressive world collector. The house is a little hard to find though since it is surrounded by other houses that are still lived in. I'll miss free museums.

Fresh fruit on the way home? Don't mind if I do.

Only forty more pence for four ice creams instead of one? Done. I was so frustrated at Tesco Express for having expensive ice cream cones. Usually they are my go to for all snacks. As I texted my dilemma to my mom, she supported buying the box and then handing them out to strangers if I couldn't eat them all before they melted. Not sure strangers accept ice cream cones.... I bought them anyways though! My plan was to share them with my friends at the show, but then the tube stopped. They were going to melt! I had to start eating them. When I got off the tube I was starting on my second, but then I got lost! So lost! After receiving directions from two different, extremely nice ladies, I made it to the show. I really didn't think I was going to find it in time. I ate my feeling by finishing the other two ice creams and moping that I was missing my last show in London.

Huzzah! I made it with ten minutes to spare. George was so concerned. I'm glad I made it because Misalliance was a fun show. Later that night I told everyone about my ice cream adventure while they got shakes at Byron. I really didn't need anymore ice cream that day. They thought it was pretty funny, or maybe that I'm pretty pathetic.

I really want them to be my grandparents. George says that would make him feel too old, but I don't care. Leslie and George are the best. The study abroad program next year is so lucky to have them. They strive to make sure everyone is safe, spiritually uplifted, learning as much as they can, and just having an all around good time. Thanks Nelsons!
