Tea Time

June 16th
Monday. The last Monday. Everyone is starting to get a little bit jumpy again about how much they can do before we leave. This was also our second to last day of class. We had Brett's Shakespeare final. I actually had a dream that I did so poorly that Ben emailed my with another chance since I would fail the class. Ouch. I am proud to report that I do not think I did that bad. I was one of the first people to finish the quote analysis and then finished my essays while waiting for the rest of my British Contemporary Theatre group. We use the power point in our scene so we ran through it a few times once everyone had finished their final and left.

I went shopping near Bond Street after class. It has some of the big department stores. I had to take a picture of the tube station just to prove I had been to Bond, the street Bond.

I rushed back to the apartment to meet up with Sarah. I was a half hour late due to the pesky tube delays. We were supposed to go out to tea. However, by the time I had come home, Jennifer said Sarah had left for the park. It was frustrating, but I understood. Everyone is stressed out about not using every second of time. I did not want to sit around and wait for either (especially since I was never convinced she was gung-ho about going) so I dropped off my bag and set off across the park.

I took tea at the London Elizabeth Hotel next to Lancaster Tube Station. I just googled places to have tea in London and this restaurant was close, not too expensive, and had nice reviews. Isn't it adorable? I would also suggest it. Taking afternoon tea somewhere is a must when visiting London.

I had actually never had tea before. It was fine. You really go to afternoon tea for the food. Oh it was so delicious. Me party!

No shame.

Two thumbs up for the Hotel's Rose Restaurant. I wanted to go row a boat in Hyde Park Lake afterwards, but it was ten pounds for thirty minutes. That seemed a little pricey.

Instead I went to the British Museum! I got a little lost on the way, but it was worth it. This place is HUGE. I just wandered around without trying to stress about seeing the whole place. That would take hours.

The British Empire was huge! I basically traveled the world and hit every ancient time period.

For Dad

Suddenly I was facing the Rosetta Stone. Crazy, right?

I was so tired, but I almost started singing Hercules when I walked into the Ancient Greece rooms.

My trip abroad has taught me that everyone has cooler money than us. They range in colors, sizes, pictures, thicknesses, and so on. Sure we have a pretty consistent high value, which I am thankfully for, but other countries' cash looks like Monopoly money.

Because in London, this makes sense.

Done with my trip to the British Museum. It was impressive, but not my favorite museum.

That night was the American VS Ghana game. Europe has made me love soccer. At least ten of us went to a pub to watch the game with a bunch of other Americans. The patriotism in that little room was astonishing. We had so much fun. It must have been because of us that America is doing so well at the World Cup. Lets hope they keep it up!
